UI/UX Design + Interaction Design
An app that seeks to design a comprehensive mobile application for camping enthusiasts, offering a convenient platform to discover and explore various camping destinations in British Columbia.
Its primary goal is to assist users in making reservations, acquiring essential skills, and accessing information for effective camping trip planning.
With a one-stop-shop approach, the GoCamp app aims to enhance the overall camping experience by facilitating seamless trip preparation.

Why
Campers face significant concerns regarding pre-camping preparation and dealing with technical problems during their trips, such as setting up tents correctly or not knowing how to handle encounters with bears. Existing camping applications typically only focus on specific campgrounds in limited regions, leaving campers search through multiple browsers for solutions when they encounter issues.
Research
During the research phase, we observed that existing camping apps lack hierarchy in information and user interaction, making them less engaging for users. Moreover, many apps are not accessible when the internet connection is poor. Our app aim to address these issues and improve the goCamp app's user experience.
Target Audience
Our target audience is individuals aged 18+ who love nature and want to prepare for their next adventure. The demographics of camping app users are between 18-44, and they frequently engage with travel content and advertisements on their mobile devices to research camping options, attractions, and locations.
Wireframe
I created wireframes for the goCamp app, which helped us to visualize the app's structure and layout. Wireframes are a low-fidelity representation of the app's interface, allowing us to focus on the app's functionality and user flow without getting distracted by the visual design.
User Testing
I then conducted user testing using qualitative method. Deconstructed the user testing process into various tasks and closely observed their behavior as they completed each task. Based on the feedback, we improved the interface with more incentive visual design and interaction that are more suitable for both beginners and experts. We also introduced a new feature, Augmented Reality (AR) Camera, empowering users to identify and learn about various plant types and characteristics.

Reflection
Reflection
The goCamp project aimed to create a seamless user experience for planning camping trips by combining design thinking with real-life business problems. As one of my first user experience courses, it emphasized effective communication and execution. Given more time, I would have improved the mobile experience, such as optimizing text size for readability. This experience highlighted the importance of developing mobile-friendly applications for efficient goal achievement.
