Why
While there are already various types of children's monitoring systems available, many of them are either location sharing or video monitoring, limiting the user's ability to know what's happening outside the fixed frame. Additionally, some video monitoring systems merely record without providing any smart analysis or insights, which hinders the goal of ensuring constant safety for children.
Design Process
To begin the design process, I started by asking: "How can we ensure the children's safety at home?" Then, I conducted UX research using methods like Body-Storming, Desk Research, and Competitor Analysis. After gathering insights and findings from each stage, I created a prototype for evaluation and determine the project's future direction.
Body-Storming
To begin with, I research the pain points of kids monitoring and use them to create three personas and journey map. Then, I physically act out the story using the journey map. This method allows me to deeply consider the potential users' situations and surroundings, helping me understand their needs and challenges in detail.
Our target audience comprises safety-conscious parents who prioritize the well-being of their children and seek proactive measures to monitor their home potential dangers and hazards. They are actively searching for advanced solutions to ensure the utmost safety and security of their kids.
Ideate & Decide
After the body-storming, I explored three design directions/solutions: a multifunction nanny cam, a monitoring health wristband, and a home security system. After careful consideration, I selected the nanny cam as the preferred solution due to its safety, popularity and relevance in the market.
Among the three design directions, each with its unique focus to address the key design focuses: Ensuring Child Safety, Alleviating worries and anxieties for working parents, Enabling remote guidance and interaction between parents and children, and Preserving memorable events in children's lives. The nanny cam encompasses all these aspects, making it the most suitable choice.
Market Research
After having the furture direction, I conducted a desk research and performed a competitor analysis on nanny cams, I have identified four areas of possible major improvement that exist in current nanny camera market.
Mobile app improvements: Enhancing the mobile app interface for an improved experience.
Motion detection refinement: Fine-tuning motion detection settings to minimize false alarms and optimize notifications.
Expanded camera coverage: Providing the option to connect multiple cameras or offering wider angles for better coverage in larger spaces.
Compatibility with smart home systems: Integrating the nanny cam with popular smart home platforms for seamless control and automation.

The final solution comprises two components: the camera and the app.
Camera: With added sensors, Optics technology enhances users' perception beyond the human eye, detecting temperature variations and identifying potential hazards. The camera's capabilities, coupled with the laser patch, enable parents to monitor their children's vital signs. Additionally, the flying function offers a wider perspective for monitoring larger areas and capturing unique viewpoints.
Smart App: The accompanying app enables parents to track their child's physical activity, sleep patterns, and receive reminders for hydration and movement. Synced with the parent's smartphone and smart home device, it provides valuable insights into the child's overall health and promotes healthy habits.

Reflection
During the making of this product, I start to realized that various applications and smart devices tap into our private lives in order to improve their functionality and efficiency, which may continually blurs the boundary between private and public information.
With this thought in mind, I believe it is the responsibility of manufacturers and designers to prioritize and safeguard the privacy rights of all individuals. Respecting and protecting the privacy of users should be a fundamental principle guiding the design and development process.
